I am a psychodynamic therapist working with adults in my private practice, based in comfortable consulting rooms in central Cheltenham and Cirencester in Gloucestershire. I am a registered member of the BACP and BPC and work to their strict codes of ethics. I work both with adults and young people over the age of sixteen.
I mostly work face to face with individuals. I undertake open-ended, long-term therapy and short-term counselling where this seems appropriate. We meet weekly and each session lasts for 50 minutes. My training is psychodynamic, which is rooted in modern psychoanalytic and attachment theories. All good counselling works when there is a strong, boundaried relationship based on trust. Psychodynamic therapy explores more closely how long-buried experiences, feelings and early relationships can affect how we deal with the present day. Through this – sometimes challenging – exploration, a new approach to life may be achieved, with new perspectives on the past and present, a richer sense of self and autonomy, and a greater capacity for relationships.
